January 7, 1945

Delp’s trial was now set for January 9 and 10, 1945.

To Marianne Hapig and Marianne Pünder

Good people,

So it’s next Tuesday and Wednesday.  But I’ll probably leave on Monday, so I’ll say Mass beforehand.  It would still be important for me to find out whether Tatt got the first letter before he left.  If not, he’ll probably come the day itself.  74586_LARGE[1]I’d like him to make the proper statements at the chief state attorney’s office on Monday at the latest.

There’s also the question of whether the Sperr problem has been solved.  I’d really like information on this matter; perhaps things will work out in our favor.

So now we’re walking along the tightrope.  I’m feeling quite cheerful and still confident.  Mind you, I don’t know what’s in Pandora’s Box—that is, the written charge against me.  Some nice surprises might still spring out.

The miracle now has to lie in reversing the decision that the men are bringing in their pockets.  My head is in the noose and I have to get it out again before it’s tightened.

In the end, it’s all seed for the sowing

May God protect you.  God reward you for all your love and goodness.  I’m never angry at the Lord, not even for a moment, despite all the anguish and misery.  In the end, it’s all seed for the sowing.  Best greetings and wishes.

Max
